The Gamble That Paid Off – Family Session with the Pereira Family
Sometimes, the weather just can’t make up its mind. That was exactly the case on the day of my family session with the Pereira family. The forecast was all over the place—sunny one minute, pouring rain the next. I found myself checking the skies, refreshing the weather app every hour, wondering if we were going to have to pull the plug.
We decided to make the call just one hour before the session. I won’t lie—rescheduling was definitely on the table. But often, it’s these unpredictable days that bring the most unexpected magic. And the Pereiras? They were all in. Rain or shine, they showed up, ready to embrace whatever Mother Nature had in store.
What we got was pure gold. Wind-swept hair, dramatic skies that looked like they were painted just for us, and even a rainbow stretching across the horizon. These are the moments you can’t plan for, the kind you only get when you’re willing to take the gamble.
I’m so grateful to the Pereira family for their adventurous spirit and trust. It’s not always comfortable showing up when the weather is unpredictable, but sometimes, it’s the unplanned that brings the most beautiful surprises.
Would you take the gamble?
Embracing the Beautiful Chaos
I absolutely love photographing families that bring a bit of a challenge—especially when the crew includes little ones, preteens, and teenagers all together. It’s this unique blend of energy, attitude, and spirit that makes the session so special.
For me, it’s all about finding that sweet spot: keeping it playful and fun for the little ones, while making sure the cool teens don’t feel like they’re trapped in a cheesy photo op. It’s a challenge I genuinely enjoy—finding those moments where everyone connects, laughs, and just enjoys being together.
